Heimatmuseum Oberstaufen

Markt Oberstaufen, Bayern

The Strumpfarhaus, an Allgäu farmhouse built in 1788, is itself the best exhibit at this local museum. In the stocking-weaver's room you can see wool reels, a spinning wheel, a twisting mill and a stocking frame. Over 400 items tell the story of Oberstaufen, with farming and craft tools and typical farmhouse parlours and bedrooms, plus items from the Schroth cure and art by Fritz and Gertrud Wiedra. The grounds hold a bee house, a pond, an alpine garden, a herb garden and an orchard meadow.
