Heimatmuseum Bad Laer

Bad Laer, Niedersachsen

The local museum occupies an Art Nouveau vicarage built from Piepstein, the tufa-like limestone typical of Bad Laer. A roughly 6,000-year-old block of it greets you outside. Inside you learn how the stone formed and how it was quarried for local buildings. The collection also includes a wooden loom and everyday objects that have almost vanished from modern life.
