Hafenmuseum (Bremen)

Bremen, Freie Hansestadt Bremen

Housed in Speicher XI, a cotton warehouse built between 1908 and 1912, this museum tells the story of Bremen's harbours. The area where ships, cargo handling and dockside life once set the pace is now the Überseestadt district. Individual exhibits, detailed texts and recorded accounts from people who lived it trace the change. The building alone is worth a look: at 400 metres, it is the longest in Bremen.
