Grube Glasebach

Harzgerode, Sachsen-Anhalt

In the Glasebach valley near Straßberg you can visit a mine where fluorspar and silver were worked until the 1960s. Mining around here goes back to about 1400. Displays include mining artefacts, among them the old wooden drainage outlet of the Lower Kilian Dam, salvaged in 1990. The show mine is also a checkpoint on the Harzer Wandernadel hiking network.
