On Aleja Marcinkowskiego you will find one of the largest painting collections in Poland. It covers Polish and European works from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, plus an antiquities section with Egyptian, Greek, Roman and pre-Columbian American art. The museum occupies two linked buildings: a historic hall from 1904 and a newer wing from the 1960s and 70s.
