Festungs- und Waffengeschichtliches Museum

Philippsburg, Baden-Württemberg

Once a prison built in 1884, this building in Philippsburg now tells the story of the town's fortress and its weapons. The permanent exhibition begins with local archaeology from the Stone Age, follows the history of Udenheim up to 1623 and of Philippsburg up to 1800, and ends with a display of weapons and dioramas from antiquity to the 18th century. The large hall under the roof once served as the town council's meeting room. Volunteers run the museum.
