Europäisches Museum für Modernes Glas
Rödental, Bayern
Glass as art is the subject here, from decorative vessels made with an artist's eye to abstract and figurative sculpture and installations that fill whole rooms. The collection follows modern glass from the beginnings of the studio glass movement in the 1960s up to the present day, with a smaller group of modern ceramics alongside. The bright, purpose-built museum stands in the Schlosspark Rosenau in Rödental and opened in 2008. It is a branch of the Veste Coburg art collections, which began collecting contemporary glass back in the 1960s.
