Emsland Moormuseum

Geeste, Niedersachsen

On the edge of the Bourtanger Moor, this museum traces the path from the settlement of the bog to industrial peat cutting. It has two exhibition halls, a raised bog of about 20 hectares, and an open-air park of the large machines used for peat extraction and cultivation. A highlight is the Mammut steam plough, over 30 tonnes, set up in working position in the main exhibition.
