Dokumentationszentrum Prora

Binz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Prora, on the Prorer Wiek bay, is the vast seaside resort the Nazis planned to hold 20,000 holidaymakers, built between 1936 and 1939. The documentation centre, inside one of its blocks, explains how the complex of about 4.7 kilometres came about and what lay behind it. Further themes include its later life as a military site and the construction soldiers stationed here from 1964 to 1989/90.
