Jagdschloss Granitz

Binz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Perched on the Tempelberg, the highest hill in the Granitz forest, this castle was built between 1838 and 1846 for the Prince of Putbus in the style of North Italian Renaissance castellos. Visitors tour the rooms of the former hunting residence. Getting there is part of the outing: the Rügen Light Railway or the Jagdschlossexpress runs up from Binz, and marked footpaths lead through the woods of the biosphere reserve from Binz and Sellin.
