Diözesanmuseum Bamberg

Bamberg, Bayern

Next to the cathedral, in the Baroque chapter house Balthasar Neumann built between 1731 and 1733, you find the art treasures of Bamberg Cathedral and the archdiocese. The best-known pieces are the imperial vestments, embroidered silk garments from the 11th century, and the vestments from the papal tomb in the cathedral. The cathedral treasury, built up from gifts by Henry II and Kunigunde, is also here, and the cloister displays the cathedral's original architectural sculpture.
