Brecht-Weigel-Haus
Buckow, Brandenburg
On the eastern shore of the Schermützelsee, about 50 kilometres east of Berlin, Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel spent their summers. The ensemble was built around 1910 as the studio house of sculptor Georg Roch, whose sculptures still decorate the grounds. Brecht wrote the Buckower Elegien here in 1953. Today it is a museum and memorial to the couple.
