Besucherbergwerk Zinnkammern Pöhla e.V.

Schwarzenberg/Erzgebirge, Sachsen

A mine railway carries visitors some 3,000 metres into the mountain to the Hämmerlein deposit near Pöhla. The show mine explains Wismut mining, including drilling and loading work done by hand and by machine. The highlight is the tin chambers, vast cavities about 45 metres long, 12 metres high and 10 metres wide, billed as the largest in Europe.
