Besucherbergwerk Fell

Rheinland-Pfalz, Rheinland-Pfalz

Two stacked roof-slate mines from around 1900, Hoffnung and Barbara, can be explored here, linked by a 100-metre stairwell. The tour, a good hour long, runs through long galleries and several working chambers. A mining museum beside the entrance covers the story of slate extraction, and a mine trail leads to further tunnel entrances and quarries.
