Bergbaumuseum Maffeischächte

Auerbach in der Oberpfalz, Bayern

Two distinctive winding towers dominate this old mining site near Nitzlbuch, where the Nitzlbuch mine and the twin-shaft Maffei complex closed in 1978. It is now an open-air mining museum run by volunteers, so opening days are limited. The grounds also include an open-air stage with a roof that stands year-round.
