Museum am Markt

In a three-storey half-timbered house on Schiltach's old market square, ten themed rooms tell legends and stories from the town's past. An audio play recounts the tale of the devil and the maid blamed for the great fire of 1533, and a hands-on model shows how timber-frame walls are built. The museum also covers the former village of Lehengericht, whose town hall stood outside its own territory, and its living costume tradition.
