Prussian history is told here through culture and everyday life rather than as a tale of heroes. The history museum fills the Neoclassical former defence barracks of Minden Fortress on Simeonsplatz, part of the military suburb built after 1815. It aims to challenge clichés about Prussia and also takes in migration and colonial history and the part played by women.
