Zamek Królewski w Warszawie

Warszawa, mazowieckie

Standing on Castle Square at the entrance to the Old Town, this was for centuries the seat of Polish kings and their parliament. Visitors walk through the royal residence's interiors and see a sizeable collection of Polish and European art. It was here that the Constitution of 3 May 1791 was drafted. The castle was destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt between 1971 and 1984, so what you see is a reconstruction that incorporates surviving fragments of the original.
