Wehrgeschichtliches Museum Rastatt

Rastatt, Baden-Württemberg

In the south wing of Rastatt's palace, this museum traces German military history, focusing on the southwest from 1500 to 1800: the Thirty Years' War, conflicts with France, the Congress of Rastatt and the Napoleonic wars. It gives detailed attention to Türkenlouis and his campaigns against the Ottoman Empire. For the 19th century it presents the armies of Württemberg and Baden with weapons from the Baden rifle factory, and looks at how the military related to society.
