Stadt auf dem Magdalensberg

Magdalensberg, Kärnten

Spread across the slopes and summit plateau of the Magdalensberg, at the edge of Carinthia's Zollfeld, this archaeological site preserves a Noric and early Roman trading town. Merchants gathered here to sell prized Noric iron to the Mediterranean world. People lived here for only about ninety years before moving to the new Roman city of Virunum. Among its most important finds is the Youth of Magdalensberg.
