Seelackenmuseum

St. Veit im Pongau, Salzburg

A farmhouse from 1738, typical of the Pongau, holds this local history museum. It was taken down in Schwarzach and rebuilt here. Look for the big farmhouse parlour with its timber-beam ceiling and tiled stove, and the smoke kitchen. The displays cover history and archaeology, farm life, and the writer Thomas Bernhard. The grounds also include a mill with an overshot water wheel, a grain store, a bake oven, an observation beehive and a kitchen garden.
