Schaubergwerk Sunnpau

St. Veit im Pongau, Salzburg

This is a copper mine on the Hochglocker, among the oldest in Salzburg. Mining began in the Bronze Age, paused for a long time, and resumed in the 14th century because the copper was needed to smelt Tauern gold at Lend. The show mine is part of the Geopark Erz der Alpen and is run together with the Seelackenmuseum.
