Schweriner Schloss

Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Rising from an island in Lake Schwerin, this turreted palace was once the residence of the Mecklenburg dukes and grand dukes. Its Renaissance-style design, reworked in the 19th century, took Chambord as its model. The palace museum shows the ancestral portrait gallery, the throne room and the palace church. The state parliament also sits here, and in 2024 the palace joined the UNESCO World Heritage list.
