Schloss Trautenfels
Stainach-Pürgg, Steiermark
Perched on a rock spur above the Enns at the foot of the Grimming, this castle was first mentioned around 1260 at the crossing of the salt road and the Enns valley. It was rebuilt as a Baroque palace in the 1670s. On the first floor, frescoes by Carpoforo Tencalla survive from that period, and Renaissance frescoes remain from the 16th century.
