Schloss Hämelschenburg

Emmerthal, Niedersachsen

A major work of the Weser Renaissance, this castle stands in the Weser Uplands between Hameln and Bad Pyrmont. Castle, church, farm buildings, park and furnishings are all preserved, and from April to October guided tours explain the architecture, the art and the story of the noble family. The church is described as the first free-standing Protestant church. A garden path leads to the mill with its water wheel, and there is a café with a beer garden.
