Schloss Glücksburg

Glücksburg, Schleswig-Holstein

Set right in the water on the shore of the Flensburg Firth, this moated Renaissance castle dates from the late 16th century. Inside, a museum opens the rooms to visitors and recalls the dukes of Glücksburg, whose line was seated here. For a time the castle also served as the main residence of the Danish monarch. The setting on the water alone makes it worth the trip.
