Schaubergwerk Leogang

Leogang, Salzburg

Ore was mined in the Leogang valley as far back as 3,500 years ago, and this show mine in Schwarzleo lets you step into that history. Tunnels named Johannis, Barbara and Daniel lead into parts of the Schrattenbach and Prugger workings. You see hand-hewn chambers, some timbered and some bare, and several worked-out stopes. Copper, lead and silver were mined here, later joined by cobalt, nickel and mercury.
