Samurai Museum Berlin
Berlin, Berlin
Samurai armour, helmets, masks and swords fill this private museum in Berlin-Mitte, not far from Alexanderplatz. Over 1,000 original pieces from the collection of builder Peter Janssen are shown across 1,500 square metres, including around 40 complete suits of armour. The oldest items date from the Kofun period, most from the 15th to 18th centuries. Highlights are three armours of the Kato clan from the Edo period and blades by famed master smiths.
