Olbernhau, Sachsen

Near Olbernhau in the Ore Mountains stands a smelting works where silver was extracted from black copper from 1537, and copper was later processed on a large scale. Its Grünthal roofing copper was used in buildings well beyond Saxony. Twenty-two linked historic structures survive largely intact and are presented as a technical showcase site.
