Red dot design museum
Essen, Nordrhein-Westfalen
Good design from around the world is the focus of this museum in the former boiler house of the Zollverein coal mine. Norman Foster converted the building, and the museum has shown design objects here since 1997. Its roots lie in a 1955 Essen exhibition of well-formed industrial products, out of which the Red Dot Design Award grew.
