Podziemne trasy turystyczne w Szczecinie

Szczecin, zachodniopomorskie

Beneath the area around the main railway station lies a Second World War air-raid shelter, opened in 1943 inside the vaults of an 18th-century city fortification. It has two levels, a stairwell reaching 21 metres underground and about 3,000 square metres of floor space; some 5,000 people sheltered here during Allied raids. After the war it served civil defence, with secret training held here until the 1990s. Tourist routes through the shelters, including an anti-nuclear one, can be walked alone or with a group.
