Pfefferminzmuseum Eichenau
Eichenau, Bayern
From the First World War into the 1950s, Eichenau was Germany's most important area for growing peppermint, mainly the English Mitcham variety. The small museum, in a former municipal library, uses texts, photos and historic tools to explain how the plant was grown, harvested and dried, and its healing powers and history. A little peppermint is still grown on a small plot for the museum, and you can taste and buy Eichenau peppermint tea on site.
