Papiermuseum Düren

Düren, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Düren was Germany's city of paper until the 1970s, and this museum tells that story. It follows papermaking along the River Rur from 1576 onwards, where 68 mills and factories were built over the centuries because the soft water suited the work so well. It is attached to the Leopold-Hoesch-Museum and suits anyone curious about paper as a craft, an industry and an artistic material.
