Památník Bedřicha Smetany

Jabkenice, Středočeský kraj

Composer Bedřich Smetana spent the last ten years of his life in this gamekeeper's lodge in Jabkenice, from 1875 until his death in 1884, after he had gone deaf. He wrote most of his best-known works here, including The Kiss, The Secret and the cycle Má vlast. A small museum was set up in his former study in 1928, and it is now a branch of the National Museum.
