Palais für aktuelle Kunst

Glückstadt, Schleswig-Holstein

A palace built in 1630–31 in Glückstadt's historic centre now serves as a home for contemporary art. The building, in Dutch late Renaissance style, was given a baroque makeover around 1697, and its eight-bay facade faces the harbour. Inside, features from the 17th and 18th centuries survive, including Rococo fanlights. An art society shows contemporary work here in changing exhibitions.
