The former court library of the Habsburgs is housed in Vienna's Hofburg, with reading rooms on Heldenplatz and historic collections reached from Josefsplatz. The library complex includes four museums as well as special collections and archives. Its roots go back to the 14th century, and it holds more than 12 million items today.
