Ephesos Museum

Wien, Wien

Finds from the ancient city of Ephesus on Turkey's Aegean coast fill this museum in the Neue Burg, including sculpture and architectural pieces. The core of the collection was a gift from Sultan Abdul Hamid II to Emperor Franz Joseph, after Austrian archaeologists began digging at Ephesus in 1895. The collection has had its own rooms since 1978.
