Noriker Pferdemuseum
Niedernsill, Salzburg
This museum is devoted to the Noriker horse, a breed named after the Roman province of Noricum. The interactive displays explain how to recognise the breed, how it is bred, what it eats and drinks, and what its body language means. You also learn what the Noriker meant for farming and for the archbishops of Salzburg, and how it went from working animal to leisure horse. The house also holds a dialect archive.
