Nordjura Museum

Weismain, Bayern

The Kastenhof, built 1701 to 1703 to plans by Johann Leonhard Dientzenhofer, is the setting for this museum. Across about 600 square metres it covers the Thirty Years' War, the formation of the Franconian Jura and the region's trades, including brewing, sheep farming, fishing and textiles. On show is a cannon captured from Swedish troops, and a section honours Abbot Mauritius Knauer, originator of the Hundred-Year Calendar.
