Muzeum Josefa Suka

Křečovice, Středočeský kraj

This village house was built in 1895 by the father of composer Josef Suk, a local teacher and organist, as a place where the busy violinist could rest between concert tours. Visitors walk through the original furnished rooms and see period furniture, paintings, personal belongings and Suk's Bösendorfer piano. Documents trace the stages of his composing career and his years in the Czech Quartet. Antonín Dvořák and Václav Talich were among the guests who came to visit. It is now run by the National Museum.
