Muzeum Diecezjalne w Płocku

Płock, mazowieckie

Church art has been collected here since the early 1900s, and the museum building went up in 1903 to a design by Stefan Szyller. Its holdings come largely from churches of the diocese, where objects no longer used in worship were saved for their historic or artistic value. Highlights include manuscripts, medieval Masovian sculpture, goldwork, kontusz sashes, vestments and paintings. Since 2008 it has also used space in the former Benedictine abbey.
