Muzeum Archeologiczne Środkowego Nadodrza w Świdnicy

Świdnica, lubuskie

The museum occupies a Renaissance manor of 1602, built for the Knight Hospitaller Johann Christoph von Kittlitz, set among a park and former farm buildings. It presents the prehistory and history of the Middle Oder region and the continuity of Slavic settlement, mostly through finds from its own excavations. Permanent exhibitions cover Stone Age hunters and farmers, the medieval economy, the defence of the western border under the Piasts, and Wicina, a metalworkers' stronghold 2,500 years old.
