Museum „Vergessene Arbeit“

Steinhorst, Schleswig-Holstein

Beneath the open roof timbers of an 1879 brick cow barn, this local museum shows how people used to work. Across 1,700 square metres you find tools and equipment from crafts, farming, forestry and daily life, including a shoemaker's workshop, a grocer's shop, a bookbindery and a print shop. The complete fittings of the historic Ise pharmacy from Hamburg-Harvestehude are also on view. Carriages and fire engines round off the collection, and some of the restored machines still work.
