Museum Schloss Schönebeck

Bremen, Freie Hansestadt Bremen

A baroque castle from around 1640 in northern Bremen houses this local history museum. Its collection revolves around Vegesack and the sea: historic whaling, herring fishing, sail and steam shipping, and the beginnings of sea rescue. It also covers the area's early industry in ceramics and rope-making, plus the African explorer Gerhard Rohlfs and South Seas captain Eduard Dallmann.
