Museum Schloß Friedrichstein

Over more than 900 years a castle became a palace, which now houses collections on Hessian military history: weapons, uniforms, medals and paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries. The Turcica are Ottoman war booty, gifts and purchases of the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel, with a richly decorated audience tent as the showpiece. Empire-style rooms with fine early 19th-century furniture complete the visit, which is by guided tour.
