Museum im Malhaus
Wasserburg, Bayern
Right on the shore of the Wasserburg peninsula, close to the harbour and the lake boat landing, stands the Malhaus of 1597 with its curved gable. It once served the Fugger family as courthouse and prison, and the old fortress walls still form its foundations. Five cells lay on the ground floor; upstairs is the courtroom with its Lindau-style ceiling, where the Wasserburg witch trials were held from 1655 to 1664. Today the house holds a local history and writers' museum.
