Museum Heineanum

Halberstadt, Sachsen-Anhalt

Birds are the heart of this natural history museum, which holds collections of more than 34,000 items along with a specialist library on natural history. It grew from the private bird collection of the Halberstadt estate owner Ferdinand Heine, which by the mid-19th century ranked among the largest private collections in Europe. The museum occupies a side wing of the former Spiegel curia on Domplatz.
