Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte

Balve, Nordrhein-Westfalen

This archaeological museum traces the natural and human history of the Hönne valley, from the Devonian period to the Middle Ages. You will see ice age animal fossils, including bones and teeth of mammoth, cave bear, cave hyena and woolly rhinoceros, along with Stone Age tools and weapons from the valley's caves. It occupies the former Wocklum bar hammer mill on the grounds of the Luisenhütte ironworks.
