Museum Fünf Kontinente

München, Bayern

Art, everyday objects and ritual items from cultures beyond Europe fill this ethnographic museum on Maximilianstrasse. The collection grew from the holdings of the Wittelsbach family and today numbers over 160,000 pieces, along with photographs and a specialist library. The building dates from 1859 to 1865 and shows the influence of English Perpendicular architecture. Exhibitions explore what the world's cultures share and where they differ.
