Martin Luthers Sterbehaus

Eisleben, Sachsen-Anhalt

This house in Eisleben recalls the death of Martin Luther on 18 February 1546. It stands opposite St Andreas church, a late Gothic gabled house built after the town fire of 1498, with a narrow rear wing from around 1600. It has been regarded as the death house since the 17th century, though the real one stood on the market square and was pulled down long ago. It belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Luther sites.
